Ever since i got the xbox headphones they make constant crackling noised and constantly cut out

Next is to reset and re-pair: Try resetting your headphones and then re-pairing them with your Xbox. Press and hold the power button and the mute button on your headphones simultaneously. Keep holding the buttons until the light on your headphones starts flashing quickly. This indicates that the reset process has started. After the reset, your headphones will power off and then back on. You may need to re-pair them with your Xbox.

Kindly try to use a Wired Connection. This can help determine if the problem is with the wireless connection.

Since you say it starts crackling and cutting out on one side, as well as the headset not working on your phone:

Is it possible that since the headphone connector is on the "bottom" side of the controller towards your body, that you are "resting" the controller on your stomach in such a way, that you are bending the cable connection?

Depending on the quality of the kink protector on the headphone plug, this could cause excessive bending on the copper wires which eventually break, causing to be cut off or crackling, if frayed parts inside the cable still touch eventually.

So it's not the controller itself breaking your headphones, but maybe the poor positioning and protection of the cabling of the headphones.

Yes I'm getting crackle since I updated my controller. It is the xbox especially at low volumes. Sound with headphones goes in and out. The adapter barely works

I sure hope they fix their audio for the next gen xbox. Having a full 7.2.4 system , its irritating I cant use atmos for gaming because of the constant cracking and audio cut out . Next gen gaming will need to take advantage of atmos audio. It's sad that
a company like MS cant get their coding done correctly on it's own system. I have a pioneer lx 50 . Even uncompressed 7.1 cuts in and out frequently, but without the crackling of atmos
