    Hi, I really cannot have wi-fi or any wireless internet source at home because of my mother's health condition so I wanted to know : I only have the original Xbox at home but I want an Xbox One.
    Is it possible to connect an Xbox One on the Internet with an ethernet cable?

    Is ethernet faster than wifi on downloads?

    Quick question:

    is ethernet cable faster than wifi when downloading stuff to your xboxes?

    I prefer to use wifi on my consoles as it is easier to set up...
    But if ethernet is actually faster, then I'd certainly hook up consoles to me laptop via ethernet cable...

    Hi there! Yeah, it's possible. There is an Ethernet port in the back of the console.

    Oh thank you very much for your answer. I thought that I had to wait a lot of years for having my own house with wi-fi, but this will save my life! Thank you again and bye to my old Xbox!

    To answer your question, Yes.. you definitely can use an ethernet cable for any Xbox console.

    It actually in most cases works better than using wifi / wireless internet.

    Thank you for reaching out to Xbox forums support. If you haven't already done so, go ahead and try performing a Soft console Factory
    reset     on your console by doing the following:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All Settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Console info & updates.
    6. Select Reset console. [Keep my Games and Apps]
    Make sure you have both your email and password on hand as you will be asked to sign back in. There is an option to delete everything and to save your games and apps; choose the latter.

    is it possible to try and plug the xbox into the router direct instead of the homeplug and see if it connects there just to rule out any issue with the homeplugs, i know you say it works with the pc, but just to be sure.......

    Does it disconnect on multiple games? or is it specific games? and have you tried a different ethernet cable, or tried testing your ping?
