Ethernet Issue — Desktop connection GOOD, Xbox One S connection BAD

Over the summer I upgraded my internet connection and router and everything was fine; I'd get around 400 Mbps download speed for my desktop on Ethernet, 400+ Mbps download speed for my Xbox One S on Ethernet (587.35 Mbps being the record), and even 200-300 Mbps for my phone via 5G.

Then, about a month-and-a-half ago, my Xbox's download speed dropped to around 170 Mbps. I don't recall changing any settings, nor did I change any of the equipment, and the ISP says everything is fine on their end… so I honestly have no idea what might have happened.

There was one day a week-and-a-half ago where everything went back to "normal" …for one day. I've been tearing my hair out trying to recall if I did anything different for that one day, but that at least indicates that something can be fixed.

The only thing that worked for me was buying an ethernet cable and establishing a wired connection to the Xbox S. This is a common issue with the Xbox S as far as I can tell. Most any category ethernet cable should work. The higher the category, the faster
the connection.

Perform a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

My desktop ip is 192.168.1.2 now,but in my xbox network settings is 1.3 so is connecting to ethernet but i've got the DNS Error !

When you first get your Xbox One S, there might be an issue with Updating it Wirelessly. It will say "Update has Failed, Please Check your connection and try Again." if that Message pops up, all you have to do is Turn off the Console, Connect an
Ethernet Cable to the xbox and your Router, then restart the process for updating your new Console and it will start without any issues. there are sometimes Wireless Connection issues that will interfere with the Updating process, It's better just to connect
the Ethernet cable First hand.

Found an ethernet cable and hooked up an entire other tv so it could reach the router reset and retried with ethernet and still not working

May want to verify the cable is working by temporarily wiring the computer the the network with it. If the computer can't connect, either the cable is bad or the computers ethernet port is bad.

If the computer CAN connect, the ethernet port on y our xbox needs to be repaired.
