I'd say you'd likely find minimal difference between the two setups. I think a safer bet is to carry on utilizing the Sky equipment since they can push firmware updates that are directly compatible with their router, long term you'd probably experience
less issues this way and avoid purchasing any additional equipment. However, as others have said you simply can't beat connecting directly to the router.

If you can configure the setup directly, I'd suggest getting a CAT7 or even a CAT8 cable that is long enough to feed to another room. Then just run the cable close to the skirting board (its been a while since I lived in the UK, so baseboard/base molding for
anyone in the U.S.) should keep it from being an eyesore. If you're really critical about it you can also match the cable color so it blends in.

Ultimately unless you can connect directly the difference is likely negligible.

    I hope this helps!

    :)

I apologise I was very frustrated at not being able to play. It turned out the ethernet cable was broken :/. Thanks for the info as I am experiencing random DC's. I've started another thread for that though, as I forgot I had this one open.

    Ethernet connection to Xbox

I've used a 20mt log cat.5 ethernet cable to link my router to enother one and from this, I've connected my multimedia devices (xbox, playstation, smart tv).

It works properly and improved ping in multiplayer games
Appreciate the response. Im. Not sure if because im using an ethernet and its connected to a sky box instead of my router it might be lowering my ping. Not really sure
