    It depends on where you are purchasing the card from.

    If you purchase through the Microsoft store directly online (or through your console) while the current sale is going on, the subscription will be added to your account at time of purchase.

    You would need to contact a local retailer to see if they have 3 month cards on sale or will price match an online price. Many times the digital sale does not carry over to physical equivalent item.
