Errors trying to redeem code for Call of Duty Ghosts for Xbox One (region related?)

Hi,

I'm trying to redeem a code for COD Ghosts, it's not working, and it seems to be region related (I'm located in Netherlands). When I set my region to Netherlands on xbox.com, I can enter the code, but then the next screen shows an error XBOS-4000. When I
change my region to US on xbox.com, I can enter the code, it will recognize it's a code for COD Ghosts, but when I confirm I get an error XBOS-1005. This seems to be pretty consistent. I bought the code on a dutch website, so I assume the code is linked to
NL region. It's not clear to me how the region related stuff actually works. The region that you can set on xbox.com seems to be something different from the region that needs to be set correctly for the code to work, although they seem to be related, because
the errorcodes are different when changing this region.

I already contacted the website where I bought the code, and they say the problem is region related (either my account is registered in US or the Xbox is registered in US -> I already changed the language/location on the Xbox One to NL).

Can anybody shed some light on how this actually works, and how I can fix this?

My research has shown that this is indeed a region issue. It suggests that your gamertag is not set to the same region that you physically live in. Switching the region of the console will not fix the issue. You must change your gamertag's region to match
your physical location.

 

Tried to change the region on my gamertag (apparently it was set to US, no idea why), but it won't let me. Just says there's a problem... Nice :-(. Guess I'll try again later.

 

Ok, if you can't do it later then give phone support a call and they can do it manually for you

 

Me too... Quite funny, i live in two european regions (Germany and Switzerland) and a multi region setup is a pain with XBOX Live/Microsoft.

Assume Microsoft will start to seperate regions in the US by state... From the business point it maybe make sense but regarding the real live reallity it's mostly nonsense.

By the way.. Of course i can provide Microsoft my two ID's to fix this issue.

 

Ok.. Finally i got it to work.. The XBox support was not able to help me and i really must say that Microsoft Product Management has no clue how it works in Europe or smaller European countries. European free movement of persons agreement... Who cares!

It's related to the region setup.. But not only two one of them.. To all!

1) Open your Microsoft Account site and verify that you have a proper setup for the region you want to move to incl. a billing method and a correct address.

2) Verify that the console setup if for the right region the code fit's to, otherwise it can not be downloaded later.

3) Change your XBox Region to the Region the code is related to by using this side:
live.xbox.com/AccountMigration (use Internet Explorer, the site didn't work for me with Chrome). Please read thru the conditions and possible disadvantages very carefully!!

4) Login to XBox Live and go to your account side, in the payments setup change also your region which was used for Step 1-3.

5) Now redeem the code thru the Xbox Live website (not console!!) and it should work now, please note: The XBox 360 and also One will only download the content if they are also in the right region.

I don't know which mad mind is responsible for an unusable crap like this, i live in two regions and can legal approve this at any time. My driving distance from one home to the other is shorter than a ride thru texas and this is european reallity for a
lot of people (more than 50% of my colleagues). I can only setup one homebox for the XBox one and only one region... Microsoft future is cloud computing? Cloud means borderless! How do you want to make business if you can't handle it?
