Error when trying to redeem Gears of War 3 code: XBOS-3012 7987712d-bf7f-4c56-a617-6dbc205db532

I've just finished speaking with a Microsoft Answer Tech who directed me here. A friend gave me two codes today, GoW: Judgment and GoW 3. The GoW: Judgment one redeemed without any issues, but when I try to redeem GoW 3, it recognizes it as a legit code,
but when I press confirm I get the error. I've tried on the web, mobile, and console. Even the representative tried but he wasn't able to solve the issue.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Unable to redeem Gears of War 1&3 With error code xbos-3012

My purchase of Gears of War 4 came with activation codes for Gears of War 1&2&3&JD. I have successfully redeemed Gears of War 2&JD. But when I try to redeem Gears of War 1&3, I get an error "xbos-3012". Anyone knows how to fix this?

Does your account region Match your actual region if not that would be why

In order to use the code you must have a matching account region

You must change it under my account and change my region on this website

After that you have to change it on your console

FYI if you live in China Germany or Japan the code is not.valid for you

 

Thank you. This turned out to be the problem. My account region is Canada, where I'm from, but I live in South Korea. It's strange that GoW: Judgment activated though.

Thanks for posting. Some Xbox 360 games have different country/region restrictions and cannot be used outside of the approved regions. Additionally, as your Xbox Live account and physical regions are different, you will want to

Migrate Your Xbox Live account to match your physical location for optimal use of Xbox Live.

Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

 

Judgement and gears 2 do not have region lock

If you are onlyntemporarily visiting it's best to wait till you are back home migration won't help later because the content would be region locked to Korea if you migrate

 

Gears 1 and 3 are confirmed region locked due to the regulations controlling the games and yes they are banned in certain regions

I have this problem, too. I live in Serbia and I have US region. If I migrate my , will it destroy my subscriptions?

 

i now os too late bit i purchased yesterday the game and have the same problem. but i Solved it. turns out that your ms account haves to match with the xbox live account mean the region. but the trick is that you have to change your xbox 360 account because
the problem is with xbox 360 games. Now you go to xbox live account log in go to xbox settings and change your xbox 360 región for the one that appears in your xbox one console and save the changes and now you can redeem the code. i hope i can help someone.
