Error purchasing but charged 3 times on my credit card

Talked to a rep to verify that my credit cards were deleted from the account, they assured me they were. My son used a gift card, the rep suggested that’s how we make purchases from now on, to buy a game last night. I woke up this morning to 10 additional charges for the same game on my credit card. Not only were my credit cards back in the system but we charged 10 times for the same purchase. Tried to call in and was put on hold for 45 minutes before I just hung up.

This does not work! I've tried this 3 times, it never asked if I would like to substract the amount I had in my MS account from the total amount due, I have 11,27$ in my account and wish to purchase content worth 11,49$. I followed the instructions, chose
credit card payment method and pressed confirm purchase. The amount was charged directly to my credit card account, no questions asked, no substractions, nothing.

Was your credit card charged for a second time? If not, then try to purchase the points again. If you were not charged for your 2nd purchase then you were not "paying for points that you did not receive".

Yes, if you chose to use your credits at the time of purchase, they will use those and then charge the rest to your card.

If you purchase and apply an Xbox Live Gold card to your account
before your renewal date, MS will accept that at time of renewal over a credit card on file with your account and the credit card will not be charged.

To be clear, there are two kinds of Xbox cards: Xbox Gold and then standard Xbox gift cards. For a card to be used toward your Gold membership, the card must say
Xbox Live Gold (they come in 3, 6, and 12 month amounts). A standard Xbox gift card which is used for the purchase of games or content will not be accepted/used toward an XBL Gold membership renewal.

I'm a little confused when you say that your membership recently renewed but the charge isn't until next week. MS typically charges on the exact date of renewal. If there was no Xbox Gold card applied to your account on the date of renewal, it is possible
that the credit card has been charged on the date of your renewal and the charge just has not yet shown up on the credit card statement.
