    Error message E203 - One S stalls every time trying to factory reset or USB update


    Xbox One S won't load up at all, have tried both factory reset and USB update, both stall out (factory reset at 50% every time, USB update at 78% every time), shut down, and turns back on with E203 error message. I essentially have a really expensive paper
    weight. Is my only option to send it in to be repaired (i.e. Paying approximately HALF of what it was originally purchased for) or is there ANYTHING else I can try? Can I open it up myself and replace the harddrive or something else to avoid having to send
    it in? The thing is barely a year old, only used a handful of times, and Microsoft and Xbox support has been horrible to work with.

    I wound up using the USB to reset the XBox One to the factory default settings, which appears to have worked.

    FWIW the offline diagnostic tool update wound up returning an error message (E203 0000080C 80073CF6), which evidently means that data got corrupted, preventing the home screen from coming up.

    Update stalls at 15%

    The current update stalls at 15%. When attempting offline usb update the update stops at 5% with an E101 error. I need either the preview program offline usb file or to be removed from the program.

    Have done factory reset and contacted support and twitter.

    Trouble with updates?

    Your console may have had a bad update on it and that E202 error is a sign you need to reformat it and update again, then use the USB update or even a USB factory reset. But if you're in the xbox insiders program, the offline update won't really help you
    - the factory resets will, though.

    See here and select E203 as your error in the list when you get to it, as E202 is not listed:

    If any of those reformat and the offline update doesn't fix it then you have this USB factory reset to do, like the USB update, here:

    If any of that does not help you should try getting out of the xbox insiders program if you are and see if that solves the problem with the next update, and then you may need to send in your console for repairs.

    Thanks for you fast answer.

    The factory reset ends on an error message (E10210040C0280040005) after displaying " Preparing console "

    Offline USB update ends with an error message (E1010000050380070003)

    When trying the factory reset I get an error message as well.

    The last suggestion on the link you gave me is to send back my device but as it is now out of warranty, I have to pay 132euros and they will send me a new one.

    I just wanted to play.. now I have to pay for an update failure ?

    Just tunred the console on and got a system error e203 0000080c tried to factory Reset it got too 50% then failed

    If you are having further problems, once the update has proceeded reinstalling the application may help. If not a factory reset may fix the issue.
