Thank you for reaching out! I see you are unable to send messages to your friends via the Xbox mobile app. Is this feature working for other mediums? Xbox Console? Xbox Website? You might also want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your phone.

Uninstall and reinstall usually fixes it when it comes up for me out of the blue
