Error code on xbox 3month gold membership when redeeming code

i tried to redeem a 3month xbox live gold membership code and it said the same thing to me something went wrong. Ive been trying all day! Help Please!

Unfortunately the only information I have regarding that error means the card with the prepaid code might need to be activated by the retailer where you bought it. You may also want to try calling
Phone Support to see if there is anything they can do for you.

If the card was purchased recently you may need to wait a day or two before the retailer has uploaded the codes they sold to be activated.

Some retailers do activation instantly when they are sold. Other retailers do a nightly dump of data to be activated. Sometimes the stores that do a nightly dump have communications problems and it does not upload for a few days. If the code was purchased
more than 48 hours ago then you will want to take the card and your receipt back to the point of purchase and see if they have the ability to retry the card activation in their system.

I have had it happen once where it never activated even though the receipt from the till showed the correct barcode. They exchanged the card and the second time it worked. (Was at Real Canadian Superstore in Alberta for me)
