    Earlier today I purchased a prepaid card that I should be able to use to renew my Gold membership, which I had for about a 9-12 months until it ended today. I was hoping to never lose Gold by renewing my membership the day it expired, but instead I got an
    error:

    "Sorry, sometimes there's a delay in getting cards activated. If it doesn't work 24 hours after purchase, you'll need to ask the store to activate it.

    Find more info by looking up status code 801613FB at
    www.xbox.com/errorhelp."


    I looked up the code and in the forums, hoping for an explanation or a way to not have the delay in the first place, but found nothing useful. Typing it slowly doesn't work, and entering the code through the laptop has the same result as on the Xbox. I don't
    want to wait until tomorrow, because it will look like I just got Gold, even though I've had it for a while. It just took an entire day to renew for some reason. Does anyone at least know what causes the 24-hour delay?

    BTW, it's 8:25 PM where I am right now.

    Odds are the retailer you purchased the card from did not activate the card at the point of purchase but the system wants you to wait and try again just in case. If it's still not working this morning take the card and the receipt back to the store to have
    them activate it.

    Also, your tenure will show up a couple of days after renewing the Gold membership and will continue to show the number of years you've had it up to now.

    Finally, in case you weren't aware you can stack up to 36 months of Gold membership on your account so you don't need to wait until the day of expiry to renew it.
