Hi Ab1indassassin. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

I'm sorry you are experiencing issues updating your Xbox. Please note that we cannot discuss or assist with self-repair on this forum as per the guidelines: https://answers.microsoft.com/thread/d5108514-749c-490e-8e46-080259b8f0a5

According to Xbox Support, the first step you should try is resetting your console: https://support.xbox.com/help/errors/error-code-e208

You can reset your console from the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. From the Something went wrong screen, select Troubleshoot to open the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

If you need to manually bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter, follow these steps:

Power off your console, and then unplug the mains lead to ensure that the console is completely powered off. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the mains lead back in.

Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button on the console, and then press the Xbox button on the console.

(The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Start-up Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the Pair button and then pressing the Xbox button )

Continue holding the Pair button and Eject button for 10-15 seconds.

Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair button  and Eject button after the second power-up tone.

To reset your console from the Xbox Start-up Troubleshooter, select Reset this Xbox. When prompted, select Keep games and apps.

The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

If this works, you should be returned to the Home screen after the console resets, and your console should function correctly now.

Let me know if this works!

Hello Jack,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you are having issues with E208. Here is a guide for

start up errors on Xbox. Have you tried an
offline update? If you are in the insider program we recommend posting on the

insider forum as the updates they get are not available to all.

Hope this helps.
