Error 0x87e00198 when trying to install Fallout 76 through the Xbox app on Windows 10

I've done everything I can think of on my end short of a complete rebuild. Drivers are updated, my OS and all relevant software has been updated, I've reinstalled the Xbox app, still nothing. I followed some instructions available elsewhere on the Microsoft forums with a Powershell command to remove the gaming service prior to a reinstall and that fails as well with error 0x80070002. I'd like to include screenshots but when I try to upload them here it says "File(s) failed to upload." so good to know other stuff is broken with the support forums, that's not frustrating at all.

After almost 1 hour trying to find a solution to this problem, I found absolutely nothing, but you can take a look at the following video to see if this once and for all solves the problem:

In case you experience the error code 0x80070002 again, I suggest you place another Windows on your PC, it may be 11 since in your Windows 10 there may be a corrupt file in the system that generates this code.

Hello again Adam S, I'm sorry to hear that the problem persists and that error code is now appearing. From what I understand, this error code appears when there is a problem with Windows, although I would also recommend checking the date and time of your PC.

If the date and time are correct, you must update your Windows.

As previously stated I've already updated Windows, I'm currently on 22H2 build 19045.3570. My system clock is set to sync with the Windows time server.

Hey Daniel! I'm assuming you mean Powershell, since Terminal is in Mac. I've already tried that command to remove "gaming services" which led to error error 0x80070002.

The solution for this problem is to reinstall the game service packs, so follow these steps below:

1. Right-click the Start button on your taskbar, and then select Windows Terminal (Admin).
2. In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:

Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
