Error 0x80070057 when trying to reinstall games

    Error 0x80070057 when trying to reinstall games


    Exactly as the title says. I uninstalled Prey and Metro Exodus because I was having some issues with the games being recognized as installed, but now when I try to install either of them again, I get this error code. The thing is that they originally installed
    with no problem.

    The code only shows up if I try via the xbox beta app. If I try from the windows store it just says "we ran into a problem on our end".

    Ive already tried an SFC scan, a reset of the store app, and resetting/reinstalling any other game-related apps. No dice.

    Anyone have any ideas or is experiencing a similar problem?

    I should probably mention that I did change permissions for the WindowsApps folder in order to skip the intro for one game, but I have done this before without an issue, and I reset ownership back to trustedinstaller afterwards.

    Hi again and sorry for my late reply, could it be that you have installed the games on a different hdd? Some games Need to be installed at C: - some of them you can move later to a different harddisk!

    Tried it this morning and it did not work. No games are listed on the list it provides, even the ones I have installed, so I had to select "Not listed", which just said the problem couldnt be solved.

    Tried downloading Prey and Metro Exodus again this morning and they wouldnt work. It could be microsofts issue, but what are the chances that both of these games get the same error and other games, like Dead Rising 4, start the download fine?

    sorry to hear. I think some rest of the de-Installation block the re-install. Please take a look at

    "Problems that block programs being installed or removed"     But maybe there are backend Problems like the store say and you try it later again?

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are receiving an error code when you attempt to reinstall Prey and Metro Exodus. We recommend making sure that

    Windows 10 is up to date    . You can try performing
    a clean boot    . A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs,
    so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.
    Also,
    we have a thread     on the forums that has a solution to this type of issue. Go ahead and try out some of these solutions, and be sure to let us know the results!
