Error 0x00d5212 (0xc00d5212)

Trying to play mkv's, I get an error telling me;

Can't Play

This item was encoded in a format that's not supported.

This is with the Media Player Preview. This is the only media player that shows up in the app store for me.

Any ideas?

video format error

i want to watch a movie on my surface Microsoft widows 8.1 system an error is display on the screen....cant play this item was encoded in a format thats not supported error code is 0xc00d5212. someone should pls help thanks.

getting lots of error messages with new update to media player preview (0xc1010107, 0xc00d36c3, 0xc00d5212)

When i try playing a video and it works it will usually give me this one:

'please try again later 0xc1010107 (0xc00d36c3)'

usually tho with files of the same extension over half are coming back with:

This item was encoded in a format thats not supported(0xc00d5212)

Same error today. Have had no issues playing MKVs before. This one is like 2.6GB though, probably one of the larger ones I've tried to play.

Looks like you nailed it. The problem indeed looks like its linked to the audio encoding. I compared seven different mkv files, four that would not play and three that played. The four that failed were all DTS audio, and all three working files were AC-3.

So it appears DTS audio format is not supported at the moment.

OK a quick update... After a big more digging around online to see if there is a solution, I think I have found something, which on this occasion has worked for me.

I was getting "Cant play file, try again later" all the time.

Solution:- don't just exit the media play, actually close the media play by displaying the menu and then selecting QUIT MEDIA PLAYER. I then re-opened the media play and the files were working again. The menu to QUIT is accessed by selecting the media player
on the home page (or where you have put it) and not from in the media player.
