English speaker working in Germany

Hi there. I've seen a lot of posts "around" this subject but I can't seem to get a definitive answer on which I will risk a buying decision. Forgive me if it is there but in the meantime, here's the question. please don't answer if you can't answer the specific
question.

Can a UK-bought Xbox One continue to buy and download UK content from UK store if being used outside of UK in an XBox supported country, eg Germany?

Rationale:

I'm English but am currently living and working in Germany. I have bank accounts and postal addresses in both. The issue is I don't speak German well enough to understand or enjoy a game that has be re-dubbed into German language, same with movies etc.

I won't buy a XBox One here in Germany because I assume it will only work with the German Store and therefore buy German language games etc (I recently bought my third replacement 360 and none of the 150 euro of bundled game redeem codes will work on my
UK registered account).

I very much want to get an XBox One but obviously it's pointless if I bring it over here and I can't download games from the UK store.

I get so annoyed that in this global information age, content providers who ironically own ALL the content in ALL the languages still aren't won't provide you anything but the content in the language in the country you are ordering it from.

So, can someone at MS please tell me if I can buy a UK Xbox or not?

Language Setting and Region Locking

I am also having the same issue here in Germany. I can speak 3 languages, but as I chose English which is my preferred language to use, i am now unable to select Germany as my region. I find it rather close minded that they cant separate language and country
especially in this day and age. It's hard to believe that microsoft can think that if i live in Germany i therefore only understand German. I guess i'm the only person in Germany that can speak English...

You can use an Xbox One from the UK, but you should also be able to buy one in Germany without any issues since the console and all of the games are totally region free.

During the initial setup, set your language to English and your location to wherever you would prefer. It will use the store from whichever location you specify.

This would be great news but I've found myself previously *** by sensible assumptions, so it would be good to know if this is something you've actually done or expect to be the case?

I'm in Australia and I have changed my region to US, New Zealand, UK and a few others many times, just to have a look at how much different content there is without any problems. It uses the store for the region you set it to. Setting the store for the UK
will work fine anywhere in the world.

The games are region free, Microsoft made a point of emphasizing this several times before and after release, so games will work fine regardless of where you purchase them or the console.

Bluray movies on the other hand are region locked, but as far as I am aware, Germany and the UK use the same region anyway.

You can actually test this yourself very easily, get a copy of NFS:Rivals..... change your language and region to the United Kingdom... load the game, it will say KINECT COMMANDS FOR ENGLISH(UK) bla bla on the loading screen.

Now quit... change your language and region to English USA, load it, and voila KINECT COMMANDS FOR ENGLISH(US) bla bla..... the language you specify in dash is STILL tied to games choices about what language to use. And most games don't give you an option
to manually select.

As for the ridiculous excuse about people speaking English with an accent if their location is Germany.

How about those of us who are native English speakers from another region who just happen to LIVE in Germany.

I also want to add that just a day ago my achievements for Titanfall changed from English to German.

My live account is UK, language set to English and Locale UK on the Xbox One.

Everything was in English until I turned the machine on yesterday, achievement notifications are still in English but in the Achievements App everything is in German!

I'm a native English speaker living in Germany but that doesn't mean I want to see my achievements in German! Can this be fixed please as it does take out some of the fun in gaining achievements!!!
