Enabling multiplayer in child's account when unable to select their account from Parent...

    Hi all,

I have tried to troubleshoot this through prior posts but the support response seems to direct me to the same spot but then I can't select my child's account from my parents account to update their profile setting for Xbox. In a nutshell I am trying to enable them for multiplayer. We have a Family Group set up. I have signed into my parent account, my settings are all enabled for multiplayer but I can't select my child's account to enable them to multiplayer. When I hover over their account name a circle with a diagonal line shows at the cursor indicating I can't select their account.

    What else can I do???

    :)

Enabling multiplayer in child's account when unable to select their account from Parent account of Family Group

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey NaomiM77, how are you today? Hope you're well.

Have you tried to remove your son's account from the family, and then, add it back again? Please try it. :)

Enabling multiplayer in child's account when unable to select their account from Parent account of Family Group

As my child was also an organiser of the family I had to sign in to their profile and could change their settings on their login. Despite being a child if they’re an organiser it disables parent functions. So anyway I got it working but that’s not the best security feature.

Thanks perhaps as you say removing the account from the family and re-adding them as a member may fix that too.

    cant play on realms

It seems that you have a child account, according to the birthdate you entered when you created the account.

In order to resolve that, have a parent sign in with their adult Microsoft account at
https://account.microsoft.com/family and have them add your child Microsoft Account to the family.

After your account has been added, the parent has to go to
    https://account.xbox.com/settings
and select your child account to edit the online and privacy settings.

In order to play on realms, multiplayer and viewing of community content has to be enabled.

    minecraft online

Hello @davidbakall! I hope that you are doing well today!

It seems that you need to clear the cache and cookies on your browser. However, if your account is a child account under a parental account or linked to a family group, only the parental account or the organizer will be able to change your account settings.

Here's what you need to do to enable the multiplayer on a child account:

    1. Log in to Xbox settings with the parent Microsoft account.
    2. Select the child account's profile.
    3. Select Xbox One/Windows 10 Online and choose Allow for Join multiplayer games AND You can create and join clubs.
    4. To enable chat for people not on the person's friends list, they will need to go to their privacy settings and enable Others can communicate .
I hope this helps you out!

Hello @jethorpe! I hope that you are doing well today!

It seems like your account is a child account in a family group or under a parental account. To enable the multiplier on a child account, here's what to do:
