Email attached to Xbox One account

Please can anyone help me, I’m sure this has been asked before! I set up an xbox account attached to my microsoft account for my son some yers ago. He now wants to control it himself using his email address. I have tried creating an alias but it says that
his email address is already taken, yes it is, by him of course..... So I can’t create an alias. Is there another way to change the email address associated with his content?

2 xbox live accounts. only one email . Cant get to the account i want

I have 2 xbox live accounts attached to one email. It wont let me get to my original account , only the new one (which i would like to delete)

Cannot transfer live from 360 to One because email was deleted!

My Xbox live account is attached to my old school email which was shut down when I moved schools. Just bought an Xbox one and I cannot transfer the live account from my 360 because the email has been deleted! What am I supposed to do?!

The only thing you can do is set up a new email for your son.

OR

If this is a outlook email, it will be associated now with an xbox account and you would have to move that to another email.

Best solution create a new account and then move your alias to that. There is not way to merge accounts.

That normally means that you signed in with an email that was not attached to your old account and not attached to a MS account/xbox profile and created a new one.

Each Xbox profile can only be attached to One Microsoft (MS) account ever.

You can have multiple aliases attached to One MS account.

By what it is sounding like you attached your original Xbox profile to one of your parents email addresses and are now wanting to attach that Xbox profile to your Email address.

I am assuming the original email address that your parents have is still in use and that is quite impressive to have the same email address for 20 years like that. If I had the same email address for 20 years I do not think I would want to get rid of it
either.

Basically you can have a Microsoft (MS) account without having a Xbox profile attached to it. But you can not have an Xbox profile without having a MS account on the Xbox Ones. On the 360s you could have local profiles that were only attached to that console.
Assuming you had an email and password attached to this xbox profile then it was attached to a MS account.

There is two ways for a MS account to get a Xbox profile attached to it and this is done automatically

1. Signing into any Xbox console.

2. Signing into account.xbox.com

If a Xbox profile is not already attached to the MS account when you sign into either one of these places the system will automatically generate a gamertag for that account and attaches that Xbox profile to that MS account.
