Elite Series 2 Controller Discussion

Good morning, Xbox Insiders,

I am writing to you today to share my thoughts on the Elite Series Controller experience. So, in 2021, I purchased the Elite Series 2 Controller. It was a hefty price, it cost almost $300 brand new. In 2024, I believe they have gone down to about $180-$220, depending on where you go.

The controllers come with some cool features and allow you to have extra buttons/paddles to customize your button layout. It's an amazing controller until you run into the toggle drift and malfunctioning bumpers (LB/RB)

With my experience, I highly recommend that nobody purchases these controllers, as you are entering a loophole of repair fees and constant malfunctioning buttons.

I can confirm that the Elite Series 2 controllers are totally not worth it because Microsoft does not provide a long enough warranty, and they charge you 3/4 of the original price of a new controller.

I've had to send in my controller more than 5 times now, and I'm getting extremely frustrated that a controller this expensive has caused this much stress.

I currently have 3 devices that ran out of warranty.. and one recently replaced controller that is guaranteed to break down within a year. So these controllers end up collecting dust on my shelves, and there is no service provided by my Xbox / Microsoft that is affordable.

The $150 fee for a renewal warranty is totally unacceptable, considering that I paid $300 for the controller. It should honestly come with a minimum 2-year warranty that gets updated and renewed every time I send it in. It makes me go insane every time something malfunctions. I'm at a point now where I am so fed up that I don't even want to play Xbox anymore. I've been an Xbox Live Gamer for 15 years, and I've never experienced something so frustrating like this before.

It is mind-blowing how bad this policy is. I actually feel like Xbox is scamming me with this warranty policy. They charge way too much for a controller that breaks way too easily.

I know I'm not the only one who is outraged by this piece of junk. We thought we were paying for an Elite Controller, but there is nothing Elite about having the send it in for repair 2x a year and having to pay for a new warranty when you didn't even drop it once or do anything to break it. The controllers simply break on their own, forcing you to buy more and more and pay more and more.

How is this service fair for people who are literally struggling to get by. Does Xbox not care about their customers anymore ? Or is this part of their sales tactics to generate more money?

I'm disgusted by this service and warranty policy. It makes me sick to think that I have to pay nearly $500 in repairs each year because either my warranty runs out or the controller breaks down from simple wear and tear..

I'm sure everyone has a crazy experience like this. I wanted to speak up about this because I feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

At this point, these extra buttons aren't even worth the hassle...

I honestly love the controller.. however, the policy needs to be changed. Surely something can be done to make a difference for anyone who owns these controllers... I know I can't be the only person who is this outraged.

There is simply one solution to all of this... since the controller breaks so often, we deserve a reduced cost to repair them.. and an extended warranty.

If players have multiple devices, they would like to send in for repair, reduce the cost.. to make lives easier and less stressful. I could only imagine how stressful this is for single parents who have kids who are sad and unable to game on the weekends because they accidentally dropped the controller or whatever the case may be...

The main problem is the insane charge of repair fee and ridiculously short amount of time given on the warranty.

I've been told by xbox support agents that it's better to just buy the replacement controller... but that leaves me with a useless broken controller that needs repair. At some point, I am forced to either throw it out... or pay the insane fee to repair it..

So the options are limited..

It's just insane to me how unfair this entire ordeal is.

$150 for a repair is so ridiculous.... I could buy a weeks worth of groceries for that much.

Right now, I am injured and unable to work, so it is a serious problem for me. Even if I was working my regular hours, I still find this pricing unfair...

I hope in the future something is changed about this.. because the 3rd version of the Elite Series is already out, and it has been for some time..

I guarantee Xbox is aware of this situation, but none of us are speaking up about it..so with that being said, to anyone who owns the Elite Series 2 Controllers.. please share your experiences.
