Elite D-pad spamming

I use the elite controller series because I have advanced arthritis and helps to reduce movements and disperse them amongst other digits. Love the product.

I've been having an issue with them as of late.

I recently have been having an issue with both my elite, versions 1 and 2, controllers. The issue is randomly pressing down on the d-pad results in a never ending press that I cannot stop. Restarting, re-pairing, removing the batteries- no change, once an elite controller is connected this happens. It occurs with both elite controllers, but not with a standard wireless Xbox brand controller. Wireless or corded, the elites are the only controllers to do this. As long as am elite is paired, my input is overridden.

I've done every reset available. Soft reset. Hard reset. Power cycle. Both partial and complete factory resets. Updated drivers and firmware.

I saw temporary normalcy with an overnight unplug which became bad after an hour of play, and again shortly after a full factory reset. Right now, hours after reset, after re-installing games overnight, and playing for 2 hours it is back to auto-scrolling.

This indicates an issue with how the xbox receives input with regards to elite controllers since it only affects my Xbox when they are connected. Regardless of model, both are exhibiting the same behavior and regular controllers do not.
