    Elite Controller 2 small paddle or P1/P2 physical problem.


    The Elite Controller 2 was the first controller with paddles I have used. I didn't need the paddles for the game I mostly played when I got it so it wasn't until it was out of warranty that I attached the paddles to the controller.

    Upon attaching the paddles, I learned that there is a physical issue with the small paddles.

    The small paddles for P1 and P3 don't click the P1 and P3 buttons.

    In trouble shooting I discovered that I can swap the small and big paddles where the small paddle intended for P1 is attached to P4, and all the P1-P4 buttons click.

    Layout that clicks all buttons.

    Small P1 --> P4

    Small P3 --> P2

    Big P2 --> P3

    Big P4 --> P1

    With this full swap, all the buttons click, but it is very awkward to hold, the complete opposite of the reason one buys an upgraded input device.

    With this functionality, I've determined that the problem is a physical defect either with the small paddle underpoint that depresses P1 and P3, or with the fulcrum point of the controller.

    In examining the attachment point they appear to be identical to the large paddles.

    I'm curious if anyone else has had a problem like this

    Using microsoft's device support I am provided with two options:

    1. Buy an accessory kit for $44
    2. Send in my controller and they will send me a "fixed" one for $99.
    The problem is that I don't know if either of these will ultimately "FIX" the problem.

    I would just bring it into the Microsoft Store and have someone look at it and it would have been fixed a long time ago, but... covid...

    I can't seem to find a way to talk to anyone at Microsoft.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

    It seems like what you have is an Xbox Elite Series controller. According to Xbox Support:

    "P1, P2, P3, P4 paddles: For additional inputs, four paddles are snapped into the sockets found at the very bottom on the back of the controller"

    Also, here's the default mapping that you can definitely customize:

    P1 = B

    P2 = Y

    P3 = A

    P4 = X

    Have you tried using the controller you normally would use as P2 as the P1 controller and then the controller you normally use as P1 as the P2 controller?

    Yah I can see how the old paddles would be cumbersome for smaller hands and I do have really long fingers. On the S1 controller, I could rest my middle/third fingers on P1/P2 and be very comfortable. It made me forsake any and all other controllers haha
    But with the S2 controller, my index finger hits both P1/P2 and I don't have the room for two fingers anymore.

    All in all, people come in all shapes and sizes, please offer an accessory kit that includes the paddles/sticks from the Elite S1 controller.

    Also, has anyone else had Bluetooth connection issues? I lose connection once or twice in the span of 60-80 min...

    Edit: not index and middle fingers haha middle and third fingers because the index would always be on triggers

    That G-jump is much easier if you get a 2nd controller involved:

    Start 2 player game at this point in the game.

    Have P1 crouch where the video threw the grenade.

    Have P2 Jump on P1, then P1 Stands up.

    P2 Throws sticky at P1's head.

    Smaller G-jump = easier.

    You may be able to double hop to it too, instead of throwing sticky at P1's head, P2 jumps, P1 Jumps up to hit P2's feet, P2 jumps again. I don't recall if we got it using the double hop or a grenade.

    Just make sure the paddles are on the controller correctly and are pressing the little button under them. also, make sure that they have an assigned button in the Xbox accessories app.
