Edge of Eternity failing to launch on Gamepass PC

LipperX1, there are other few things we could try.

So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then, try to uninstall and install the Xbox app.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command.

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

Then, after you do it, you're going to open the game pass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again

If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.

Thank you for the support. Unfortunately none of the recommendations resolved the problem for me. I was able to resolve the issue by installing the game to my C: drive (windows drive) instead of the default D: drive I usually install all games to.

This is not the first time I've run across this issue with Gamepass games so I'm unsure if its a function of the way my computer is set up or an issue with how the game install is designed - in either case it would be good for Microsoft to investigate further as I'm sure I'm one of many people who install to a drive other than the drive their OS is installed on.

Will pillars of eternity 2 be on gamepass on launch for the console?

It does not look to be a Gamepass title at launch. Assuming how long it took for the first game to be added to Gamepass, I am doubtful you would see it in the near future.

I am happy to help and provide some suggestions which I hope resolve your problem. Is this the only game that you cannot install and play? I tried to replicate the issue that you were reporting and unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce it. As I was able to install the game, launch it and play on 4 different devices using Windows 10 & 11. Please try the suggestions I have provided below

Solution 1: Reset Windows 10 store & Xbox app

1. Open Settings.

2. Go to Apps -> Apps & features.

3. On the right side, look for Microsoft Store/Xbox App and click it.

4. The advanced options link will appear. Click it

5. Next, click on the Reset button to reset Microsoft Store/Xbox App to default settings.

Solution 2: Try reinstalling the Gaming Services package on your Windows 10 device:

1. Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
   
2. In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:
   
3. Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
   

Solution 3: Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode; this error could also be attributed to issues with the Microsoft store not recognizing your entitlement to the game. Would you please click on this link Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode | Xbox Support. Then scroll down and click on the drop-down arrow and look at the steps for How to enable offline play on your device

Solution 4: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files. Sometimes corrupted files can cause issues.

I dont think Pillars of Eternity 2 will be on gamepass at first, The first Pillars of eternity are on gamepass for now though.
