Earphones not working after May 28 OS update

After the update released yesterday (OS 10.0.19041.2494) my earphones don't register any audio. Tested plugging the earphones into 2 different controllers. Tested the earphones on other devices they are fine. The controller was working before the update.
Tried updating the controllers as well.

It sounds like the new update separated the compatibility you bad before. Have you tried purchasing new headphones or a headset microphone combo and plugging that into a controller?

If your connection works well while wired, then your earphones might be the issue. Try using a different pair of earphones. Also check that there aren't many network devices around (e.g. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) that may be interfering with your connection.

it said no updates needed- when I connected via usb.

Now, Opened skype, made a call using kinect camera.

camera works fine, I can hear other people via earphone connected directly to my remote. However, they cannot hear me via the earphone. If I remove the earphones, they can pickup the sound from the kinect microphone.
