    Hi,

    This is a well documented issue on the EA forums. I wanted to know if anyone has had luck getting their gamertag unlinked in my situation. EA automatically delete inactive accounts after so long, the issue is people like myself who created these accounts 10+ years ago forget the emails and passwords used. Now i cant play any EA games on my gamertag until i reset that old EA account, which i cant because the only option EA provides is to login to the old email account for a reset. We have no idea what the email is after so long or if it even still exisits (old school email, work, closed ip)? I have a new EA account but EA refuse to unlink/move the gamertag.

    EA support cant fix it. I can prove owership of the gamertag but they dont care. So myself and many other players are unable to play any purchased EA games and use parts of gamepass.

    I wonder if Mircosoft is aware of this issue and actively working with EA to resolve it? I dont see how EA can hold gamertags like that without providing an unlink solution, it feels wrong. I wont buy anymore EA games as i cant play them and im sure it will effect some peoples decision to use gamepass.

    Only EA would be able to unlink the EA account. You need to speak to them. Changing your gamertag wont do anything as the linked account will still use the same Microsoft account and use your new gamertag

    Unlinking old EA account from Xbox

    You need to contact EA support to help you unlink your xbox account from EA account.

    However keep in mind that if you unlink an Xbox gamertag from your EA Account, you can’t link a different Xbox gamertag to it in the future.

    Xbox can't unlink the gamertag from your EA account, the link process occurs on the EA servers not on Xbox, the only ones able to unlink an account would be EA support

    According to the official EA unlinking FAQ website:

    "You can unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account if you want to link them to a different EA Account, as long as that EA Account has never had the same account type linked to it before in its lifetime.

    That means if you unlink an Xbox gamertag from your EA Account, you can’t link a different Xbox gamertag to it in the future."

    Unfortunately is not possible to link a different Xbox account / gamertag, only the one that you linked at the beginning

    I contacted with EA live support and they unlinked my old gamertag from my EA account and then linked my new gamertag and problem solved, thank you.
