  1. EA Games and Plants vs Zombies in particular

I bought the license for Plants versus Zombies for my 8 year old son on the Xbox One Store.

After it was downloaded I was dismayed to see that I had to create a EA games profile in order to play this game. Why? I already have an XBOX one profile!

I called Microsoft to complain and was told that this was the way it was, get over it (effectively.) So I spend the next twenty minutes setting up an EA games profile and try to login using this.

When I tried to login, I could not login to the servers. I called Microsoft again and was told to call EA. I object to this as I paid money to Microsoft and my contract is with them not EA. If I buy an cabbage at a greengrocers and have a problem with it,
I am not directed to the farmer that grew it!.

Anyway I called EA and was informed by answer message, that as it was the weekend I should call back in the week!

I called Microsoft back again and asked for my money back... which I recieved... but this is not the point.

The Microsoft call handler aksed if there was anything else he could help me with. I asked if he could come around and entertain my children!

All in all, I tried for 90 minutes to get this game working, all the while being nagged by the kids, and diverting me from what I should have been doing.

With so few games available for under 12 year olds on XBOX One, this now locks out one of the supposedly better ones that we cannot play.

I will not now purchase EA games for Xbox One on the basis of this, unless I can be assured of a better experience.

    Anyone else feel the same?

    :)

Man, it seems like you had a very bad day: calling by phone MS ranting cause you did not want to create an EA account sounds like a BIG loss of time.

Surely bigger than the 20 minutes (20 minutes? come on, it's a 1 minute process, and you have to do it once in a lifetime) you needed to create the EA account.

    .

Now you got the money back (i feel really sad for your son cause this is a great game and he lost the chance to play it) and you're still angry!

    .

Very very bad day! (Happens often me too)

  5. I strongly suggest you reconsider. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience setting up the EA account. That's not something Microsoft requires you to make, it's EA.

With that said, Microsoft has no way to help you with problems creating that EA account nor do they have a way to help you around that. You HAVE to create one to play the game.

I would suggest trying to set up the EA account (I think its an Origins account, could be wrong) online via the website on a computer (using a tablet or any other device might add to the frustration). As uait has said, it's not a terribly long process, especially
on a computer instead of the console. Once you have it set up, write the info down on a piece of paper and stick it in your wallet so as to not forget it. Once you log in, you won't need to log in again unless you start another EA game that requires you to
    log into an EA account.

You can then choose to either buy the disc version of the game in store, or download it from the marketplace. Log in to the EA account, and your kids will then be able to play one of the best games I've seen and played in a while.

If you have any questions please feel free to post back here.

  7. flying lizard are you using a 4GB console or... what? You might need to delete even more items in order to download the updates. With that said there is also the free DLC that you need to download in order to play too. So make sure you have room for that
    content as well.
