Due subscription payment with Microsoft account balance

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you have a pending balance on your account due to a subscription and your only payment method is your Microsoft Account balance. Unfortunately, you will need a valid payment option in order to pay the past due subscription.
Your account balance can only be use to purchase subscriptions, not to pay them off when they are past due. Hope this clears some confusion. Cheers

Unfortunately past due subscriptions can not be paid with Microsoft account/Gift card balance.

A different credit/debit card than what was used on the past due subscription in order to clear up the past due payment.

Agreed, as the other poster said. You can't pay with an account balance because you could have had this credit deposited into your account through several methods, such as Rewards points being cashed in for XBL credit. You must pay for subscriptions with
your own money, not through methods like getting a deposit from the Rewards program, just for an example, so this is why you can't use account credit to pay for it. It must be done with a credit or debit card.
