    DtsX for home theatre


    When i try to enable DtsX for home theatre in sound settings i get error 0x80bd0049 your reciever doesnt support DtsX for home theatre .

    Yet if i put in a 4k blu ray with DtsX i can select it in the sound options in the player menu and the movie plays fine and i have DtsX showing on the reciever ?

    my reciever is a Yamaha RX-A3070 and an LG C9 for the display

    I did some of my own investigating.

    For those with with Home Theatres with HDMI

    Cable Box HDMI Out to Xbox One HDMI In

    Xbox One HDMI Out to Home Theatre HDMI In

    Home Theatre HDMI Out to HDTV In

    .

    If using optical audio for sound, connect the toslink from the Xbox One to the HT.

    Connecting to a home theatre

    HDMI does indeed carry an audio signal. If you run every thing through a reciever then all you need to do is connect to it via HDMI. You only need to use a separate cables if you are hooking the HDMI directly to the TV and still want your audio to come
    from a separate sound system. My system is currently hooked up with only HDMI. Xbox>Onkyo 7.1 receiver>Samsung HDTV. 2 HDMI cables. That is all.

    By Home Theatre i will assume you are using a Projector.

    You might be able to connect using the HDMI cables and the audio cables but i think you need composite video cables as well. Projectors aren't recommended for the xbox.

    Hello trickybuz93, thanks for posting in the forums to get some help. Information about connecting your xbox to a home theater can be found here:

    support.xbox.com/.../connect-sound-system

    Bottom line is you need a separate optical cable to connect to a home theater system. The HDMI apparently doesn't carry the audio.
