  1. Dropping frames when watching TV

    Hey all,

So we have been offline for about a year as we moved house and didn't have access to the internet. Just last week we were connected and so I updated the Xbox One to thew latest update, but now it appears that I have an issue.

When we watch TV delivered through a Foxtel box, it appears to drop a frame or two every 30 seconds or so. It has only started since I updated. I have rebooted all the boxes etc, and no different.

Tried 50Hz and 60Hz same. Dropping frames when watching TV :( Resolution is 1080p.

    Any ideas?

    :)

    Frame Rate when watching TV

trust me, I am not making this up. My receiver even tells me exactly what is going into it. You will not get xfinity to put it in writing because everyone would be swamping them with a need for new boxes. In fact it has 1080p settings right in the settings
of the cable box. Turn power off then hit menu to get to hidden settings and there it is. But not on the older boxes where it max out at 1080i. The default is 720p on these boxes I think to save bandwidth or something but wow a difference when you up the
    settings.

    Frame Rate when watching TV

the X1 needs a cable for 4K.. so use the OEM one... get yourself a good quality HDMi from your box to the X1... I lowered my output to Pass-thropugh and 720P and the pictures are just as good of not better than when it was displaying 1080.. I guess that
is due to the slight lag the pass through has.... not sure what really happened... but I am more than happy now on how it looks...

Idk where you are located but 50Hz is not for American TV's so keep that at 60. First go into the main "TV and oneguide" setting under troubleshoot, reset the TV settings, restart the system and go thru the setup processes again. If this has worked before
the update it's probably not your HDMI cable, although if you have access to a better one I would also try that. Also you can reset your entire xbox 1 to factory settings, add the wifi and perform the update before you do anything else. This has actually fixed
plenty of issues in the past. Also hook your Foxtel box directly into your TV to see if the issue is 100% from the xbox.

  6. OK - I think I solved the issue. I reset everything and went back through all the settings. We are in Australia, so we have to run 50Hz. Not sure if that was the problem or the whole reset thing fixed it, but it appears to be working now.

Now if only the Kinect would stay on!! Dropping frames when watching TV :(

If you have the cable end at the x 1 connector port pushed up against something it might cause an issue with it coming off and on, unplug Kinect, plug it in firmly and do an xbox reset. You might have to actually unplug the xbox from power instead of just
the reset but once it works it should keep working unless something gets moved.

Thanks man. It's been a problem for ages. It works fine for like a week, then it will just not come on. Then the only way to get it back is pull power from the Xbox. Dropping frames when watching TV :(
