    Downloading Xbox 360 games with gold on Xbox one


    Since backwards compatibility became a thing back in November, I've been trying to download the Xbox 360 games with Gold onto my Xbox One. However, every time I try to download one I would be taken to the menu on which the game would be featured, and where
    it would list the price, there would be an option called "pricing options" or something like that. I would press A and it would bring up a little menu saying that the title would be available thru backwards compatibility and then I would press "continue".
    After that, it would load for a few seconds, then say "We're sorry, but you cannot make this purchase from xbox.com, please try it on Xbox one". I would try it on xbox.com and it wouldn't even have an option to download it to my Xbox one, only onto a Xbox
    360. While i do own an Xbox 360, I never connected it to Xbox Live because it was the original model of the 360 and I wasn't able to connect it directly to my router. I just wanted to play 360 games that were free with Gold on my Xbox one.

    Well two things I think you got the MSG wrong

    sorry, but you cannot make this purchase from xbox.com, please try it on Xbox one

    The real MSG should be please try on your xbox

    Not xbox one

    The reason being is your account is a child account and cannot make webpurchases

    You don't download it to your xbox one

    It's a emulator not an compatible console

    Basically you are queueing it tfrom the website onto your xbox one and if it's xbox bc compatible then it will show up on your ready to install list you cannot automatically download 360 games you have to manually install it

    If you do have a child account the your only option is to use your parental account with gold to buy the game

    Hey there Cuddly Buns1,

    As ngocphi said previously, if you are on a child account that does restrict you from purchasing Xbox 360 games on an Xbox One console even if they are free Games with Gold titles. You would need to make the purchase on an Xbox 360 console and then install
    the game from the
    Ready to Install     section on the Xbox One.

    Yes but first you need to go to
    www.xbox.com/.../games-with-gold     and select “Download From Xbox Store” and then “Download To Xbox 360”. This will register the game to your account which will then show up on the ready to install list one your Xbox One.

    If you do get an Xbox Live Gold membership for your Xbox 360 don't forget each month to redeem the Games WIth Gold games for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, this way if you do purchase an Xbox One at a later stage as long as you still have an active Gold
    subscription the Xbox One games will be available for you to download and play in addition to the Xbox 360 games.

    I'd be happy to provide some input.

    So to understand what it is that is trying to be done is that you are trying to download the two free games with gold for Xbox One on an Xbox 360?

    I believe the error may be related to the difference in the store and marketplace for Xbox One games and Xbox 360 games. It may be that you will need an Xbox One to download those free games to your account as you can download the 360 game with gold but
    not the Xbox One games. Also the 360 is not capable of downloading games for the Xbox One so that's another reason why it's giving you the error because the game needs to download to be applied to the account. That may just be how it is set up by design.

    And actually Xbox 360 games with gold are shown in the hub on Xbox one. That's where I downloaded mine from. It's right next to the Xbox one games.
