Downloading a game bought on disc from a different region

Hello,

I recently purchased a used copy of Call of Duty: WWII in the United States. By default, the North American version includes English and French only. Thing is, I would really rather play in Portuguese.

I used the Xbox mobile app, changed my region on both my Xbox and app, and downloaded the Brazilian version of the game. Unfortunately, the console does not accept the disc as a license to play that version - it just tries to install the North American version instead.

Is there any way I can play the Brazilian version without just buying the digital version? I would prefer to avoid giving Activision the money, especially now. I just want to play the game in Portuguese.

You only have access to the game in the language that is licensed on the game disc, other languages are not available unless you purchase that version, there is no way to change that in disc versions

You can try these steps:

Press the Guide button on your controller.
Go to Settings and then select System .
Select Language and Location.
Select Language.
Select the language that you want to use.

Then restart your Xbox console and check if it gets it sorted!

If it doesn't, then I am afraid you will have to repurchase a digital version.

Also I thought region issue comes only when you put the disc right? Is it the same for game bought via xbox marketplace?

Yes, as the download games are basically "images" of an actual disc, the console is tricked into playing the game from the hard drive, but "thinks" it is an actual disc in the drive (that's why you also get unreadable disc errors, even though it's a download
game that became corrupted).

So if you bought a console from a different region (e.g. USA or Japan), and you have an account from India, and download a game from the marketplace in India, your console will show you the region error.

Also, changing the language region of the console won't change the region the disc checks. The console region (PAL, NTSC US and NTSC Japan) is based on the hardware and can't be changed.

The majority of xbox 360 games are region locked so it sounds like the disc you bought if from a different region than your console.

Disc games are region locked on the xbox 360 so a game bought in Canada wouldn't work on a European console as they are from different regions.

There are a handful of games that are region free but I don't think State of Decay is one of them.
