Download of Game DVR clips restricted?

Today I tried to download game clips from my XBox One to Windows 10 using the XBox app. But...

a) the app doesn't list clips which haven't been saved yet on the XBox.

b) the XBox won't save some clips or screenshots. It does not say partcularly why, it just says it didn't work.

c) the not yet saved clips cannot be saved and upload by Upload Studio to Upload and Onedrive.

I suspect this is due to the fact that I'm currently not a Gold member. I can understand point c), as the 30 GB of Onedrive space is connected to Gold status. But paying so much money for Gold for just these few pluses (I don't care about the free games,
as they are old or uninteresting) isn't worth it. I simply don't have any advantage from Gold.

Is it really wanted by Microsoft that I can't save and download game clips to my PC that I recorded while not having Gold status?

having the same issue where i record a clip on the xbox one and then dwonload them via the sahre section of the game dvr clips on the xbox app, but doesnt show up in the app after i download them. shows in the folder but not in the app.

Can you confirm that it is intended that Game DVR does not save clips/screenshots when not having Gold status? What to do with the stuff, as the box warns me that it's only temporary?

I mean, if I really wanted to share my clips on Twitch (rather than using Upload Studio where it uploads the clips to MS's servers wasting space) I could do it by downloading them via the XBox app and then upload to Twitch using my internet connection. No
online services from Microsoft required and used this way. Shouldn't that be possible? This app on Windows 10 is, afaik, the only way to connect to the XBox One.

Hi Undertaker, The console does require a Gold membership to upload, share and save.

OK, got it.

Unfortunately, this is another minus for the XBox One compared to the PS4, which I also own. There is no such hassle when saving clips and screenshots to any external drive.

At this point, Microsoft is miles ways from having a sleek upload/share/save game clips feature.

Let alone from the XBox button double tap to use this feature which in every second try just goes back to the home screen.
