the family option with you MSFT account is being developed to be more family friendly but it's a long way from being ready

That’s correct. The Game Pass Friends & Family is only available to select or few countries as a pilot service. If you have two sons who want to use both the services, you could use the home Xbox feature instead. You simply put the Game Pass Ultimate to your first son’s account and set his home Xbox to your second son’s Xbox console so your second son would be able to access the subscription from your first son’s account using his own console.

I have the same problem yet fundamentally different from yours. I plan on buying an Xbox One at launch yet most of my friends are saying I'm an idiot for supporting an "always-online" and "game DRM" console. Both these issues do not bother me which is
why I want an Xbox One yet I don't want to leave all my friends.

Thank you, Gerardo! I currently have Game Pass Ultimate. So if I'm understanding this correctly, the net result would be the purchase of the game in question on Console 3, plus a second Game Pass account for my son. Wow, that is a bit disappointing. I suppose one way to save would be to drop Ultimate to Core, and add another Core account for my son, which may only add an additional $5/month or so to the total.

Does the above sound feasible? Meaning two Game Pass Core subscriptions on the two XBox X consoles, one in my account and one on my son's account (he's 13), along with the purchase of the one or two games on one of the XBox Xs that we want to play as a threesome?

One last question: if my son and I have a separate Game Pass Core accounts and the game or games are free on Game Pass, do we even need to purchase the game again? Using two separate Game Pass accounts, I could share mine with my daughter while my son uses his own account.

I set my son's xbox to "friends only" in the audio option for just that reason. I also have to approve of any friend request my son gets. His only friends are the dads I know, and his friends from school. No doubt Xbox is a foul mouth community, and I
feel your pain. If you need help with any of this just let me know, but just want to make sure you know about this and it is GREAT for those of us with kids. Nobody can hear him as well unless they are on his friend's list which I'm sure keeps people from
getting annoyed with his constant barking of orders. Haha.
