    Dolby Vision for 4K UHD Blu-ray and why not...


    There are some people's that doesn't understand this is a gaming console not a "Blu-ray" player.

    1. Xbox doesn't need a license to play Dolby Atmos content from 4K UHD Blu-ray, that's already paid by the movie studio, that's why multiple streaming apps can enable that on Xbox or any device that is Dolby Vision ready.

    2. The 4K UHD Blu-ray optical driver is the same from One S/X so can't read the Dolby Vision data from the disc.

    3. Any respectable company that sells 4K UHD Blu-ray player's with Dolby Vision start from 400€/$ retail price for a mediocre player and you expect to get that from a gaming console.

    4. Practically you have enough money to buy a 1k/1.5k$/€ TV, 500-700$/€ Console, maybe you love Playstation too so we add 500/700 more, and let finish with a good sound system another 1k$/€.

    5. You like to watch movies with the best quality possible than buy a 4K UHD Blu-ray player, anyway basically Xbox wasn't created for this purpose that's a extra feature that nobody cares about.

    P.S. Any Blu-ray player should be silent like a tomb, Xbox is more like a helicopter so that's why...

    Dolby Vision - Blu-ray player app

    Of course the Blu-Ray disks I'm using are UHD and have Dolby Vision.

    Dolby Vision is enabled on Xbox One X settings, TV HDMI ports are in Enhanced mode (4:4:4 4K/UHD HDR 60Hz), and the TV test (that can be found inside Xbox menu) returns all green ticks for my Xbox-to-TV connection.

    As said, Dolby Vision works with all streaming apps... but not when playing Blu-Ray UHD Dolby Vision disks.

    Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me if support for 4K HDR Dolby Vision for the Blu Ray player is a recent firmware update? The reason I ask is that all the info and reviews I have read say that the Blu Ray player only supports 4K UHD and not 4K
    HDR Dolby Vision. Thanks again.

    Dolby vision in the Netflix app

    I have an LG oled c7 and watch netflix trough webOs .

    By doing it this way you should get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

    Microsoft will roll out an sofware update for netflix Dolby Vision shortly.

    For the moment Dolby Vision is not supported on the Netflix app via Xbox.

    I hope they also update the blu ray player shortly because there is much more content available on 4k uhd blu ray.
