  1. Dolby Digital audio delay when choosing bitstream out on series x

Hi, I've been trying to set my audio to dolby digital on my xbox series x, but for some reason I can only choose stereo (which is PCM and not Dolby Digital) or bitstream out dolby digital. Bitstream out works and the sound is great but I get a horrible
audio delay that is very noticeable. What can I do to solve this issue?

I have a Samsung TV and a samsung soundbar with two rear speakers, I don't have this problem in other platforms.

    :)

No audio through optical cable to surround sound system. XBox One

Hi Phil! Sorry to hear you're having some trouble with sound. I will say that while the console IS capable of outputting in both DTS and Dolby Digital and the decoder device is capable of both, I've found it to be a bit fiddly when choosing DTS. I have a
7.1 Dolby Surround headset system connected via Optical. When I choose DTS, it is completely dead, no sound at all. As soon as I switch to Dolby Digital, it works perfectly.

You definitely want your HDMI audio to "Off," and your Optical Audio should be set to "Bitstream Out," because optical needs bitstream to deliver multiple channels - stereo is the only uncompressed option. Then, after choosing Bitstream, you want to set
your Bitstream Format to Dolby Digital, and that SHOULD work. It works on mine, but that's not a guarantee for everyone by any means.

    Let me know!

When is 5.1 surround coming to optical for headsets 2018?

Dolby Digital via Optical has been there for months. Under Settings, Display & Sound, set Optical Audio to Bitstream out and then set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital.

If you go to your Audio settings are they set up like this...HDMI audio(off)...Optical audio(Bitstream out)...Bitstream format(Dolby Digital)?

    Xbox 1 error code 0x80bd0009

    Hi Jasmine,

I have noticed that as soon as I choose bitstream out (Speaker audio) and then it shows HDMI audio bitstream out, when I move down to choose Bitstream format, there is no sound when the cursor is moving to that selection box. After changing that box to select
Dolby Atmos for home theater (HDMI only), the no sound continues. Then going to the Dolby Atmos box on the main screen and try to demo one of the game clips, there is no sound during the playback regardless of which one I pick. I see no error message during
    this process.

I do see a message during the Atmos demo if audio is set to 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed and DTS digital surround sound. It says you're not experiencing Dolby Atmos but it continues to play the clip with video and audio.

I'm going to try switching the Samsung HDMI ARC cable once I receive the new one from Amazon. It's due to be delivered by 2/16 after being delayed from 2/12. I'll update my post once I change the cable.

Question on toslink audio from xbox one to stereo receiver

You might need to change the output setting under audio settings. The 360 output was Dolby Digital 5.1 so if that worked with your receiver I would change your audio output settings and under Optical Audio select Bitstream Out, and under Bitstream format
choose Dolby Digital. Also read up on your receiver to find out exactly what formats it supports for Toslink input. Might be able to get even better than Dolby 5.1.
