    Dolby Atmos Runaround


    I'm am getting the runaround on my Xbox One X when trying to activate Dolby Atmos for Headphones. When I go to General > Volume & audio output > Headset audio and try to switch the Headset format to Dolby Atmos for Headphones, Xbox says I need download
    the Dolby Atmos app, but I already have it. When I open the app and try to setup Dolby Atmos for Headphones and tell it my headphones are plugged into my controller, it says I need to "go to settings" to configure Dolby Atmos at which point I'm sent back to
    the audio Volume & audio output page again.

    Did you purchase the App? as far as I am aware it has a trial and then you need to pay to use it. Otherwise Microsoft Sonic is a similar technology.

    *maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

    Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

    No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

    I don't know if is intentional.

    If the game does not support Dolby Atmos, then the audio is normal stereo. Microsoft are working on updating Dolby Atmos, where if the game does not support Dolby, the audio will be converted to simulate Dolby Atmos.
