Dolby Atmos crackling

I little while ago I got Dolby Atmos for the Xbox along with a $170 headset “made” for Dolby Atmos and Xbox, on the first day of using it I had no issues but the more and more I used it, the more the crackling came through the headset. It had gotten so bad that I just used my stereo speakers from my TV.

Eventually I got a refund and returned it and got a $200 headset on sale for $150 “A Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2” which also “works” with Dolby Atmos. When it arrived I used it with Dolby Atmos with no issues for a few days, but after I thought everything was fixed I started to hear crackling. Afraid I was being paranoid I put it to the side and continued to play games. Just like the previous headset after a while it became more frequent. Angry on why I’m hearing this I tested my “Dolby Atmos Crackling Theory” so I changed my audio settings to Windows Sonic which has significantly worse audio…… but no crackling. So now I’m at a lose and tried to look up help but no one has my issue so I had to resort to hear.

Is there a way that this could be fixed or do I have to move to Windows Sonic and deal with it?

I bought a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle. The sound works better but not flawless. Using with the dolby atmos app (dolby access) works great. But sometimes the sound starts to crackle. But with the official xbox adapter for Windows. It's unusable!

Try to do a reset keeping games and apps on the console to see if it returns to normal.

Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

*maybe* this "problem" is exactly how the Dolby Atmos App on Xbox One X works.

Dolby Atmos native content? perfect! Dolby Atmos playback.

No Dolby Atmos? the App upmix current audio track to Dolby Atmos (the headphones features works in this way).

I don't know if is intentional.

Check to see if you have the May 2020 update available (standard, not Insider). It seems to have foxed all my known Atmos issues.

I installed the May 2020 update last night (May 17). I'm still having the same Atmos pops and crackling issues on Netflix and only Netflix. I suppose I'll try reinstalling Dolby Access and Netflix, again.

I have reinstalled Dolby Access and Netflix, still the same pops and crackling, although it seems less severe, I still can't use it. Anyone know anything about the 120/240Hz TV settings having something to do with this? Why would it only be on Netflix?

If the game does not support Dolby Atmos, then the audio is normal stereo. Microsoft are working on updating Dolby Atmos, where if the game does not support Dolby, the audio will be converted to simulate Dolby Atmos.
