Dolby Atmos borked after most recent update

If the game does not support Dolby Atmos, then the audio is normal stereo. Microsoft are working on updating Dolby Atmos, where if the game does not support Dolby, the audio will be converted to simulate Dolby Atmos.

At last its fixed!! Finally got atmos coming through the Amp after 5 months!! Must have been an update last night!! Denon 3600h. 11.2 atmos!!!

But Atmos has always been working between Xbox and AVR, it's just it doesn't show on the screen of the AVR that the input signal is Atmos, based on what Dolby has said, it is cosmetic. And we managed to confirm that.

I had an update from xbox today as part of the insider preview and I reinstalled the dolby app after it. Dolby atmos now seems to be finally working correctly after nearly a year 🥳🥳my x2600h is now displaying atmos and shows it is receiving atmos instead
of PCM

Oh that's a great news, I haven't got the update yet, I was talking to Dolby today they were talking about an update which was released this week, but as I never got it I told them my console was up to date! I guess I will be getting it soon then!

Here is a recent thread on someone having similar issues with Dolby Atmos. I do see where someone mentioned the Dolby Atmos app available in the Microsoft Store.

...I have previously had the same xbox working with Dolby Atmos and a different Onkyo receiver a few months ago....

This seems to suggest that the issue is with the RZ840 then, as it worked with a different receiver.

Or did you change something else in your setup along with the other receiver? Did you also change the TV or move up from 1080p to 4K along with the receiver, so Atmos worked in the 1080p environment but not 4K?

Have you tried contacting the Onkyo support as well about that issue?

That was my first thought aswell, however after a bit of investigation it seems there's been a recent update to Dolby Atmos spec to take it to version 1.6.

As my receiver is newly released its comes with an updated firmware including Atmos v1.6.

Apparently the Atmos app on the Xbox only supoorts v1.5, so Dolby will need to release an update for v1.6 before things will work again.
