Fortnite displays your Epic Games username in most cases, not your Xbox gamertag. Even though you’ve updated your gamertag, if it’s not syncing with Fortnite, the display name issue is likely linked to your Epic Games account rather than Xbox.

Please verify Epic games account changes by logging into the Epic games account settings and double-check that the username change was successful.

If your updated Epic Games username is displayed there, it confirms the change is registered on their end.

And it can take up to a few days for changes to Epic Games usernames to propagate across all servers.

not since they changed the processes, more changes are coming too, all platforms using epics games are now using epics user id as it is their servers and their games, they are updating more and more to control it all.

I am almost certain xbox username is whats used on Fortnite. Don’t think I’m wrong here as I have a different display name on epic that is overridden by xbox name.
