Does Xbox One automatically turn on when a game update is needed?

Thx for the response. When I turn instant on off, does the console and games stay updated automatically?

When the xbox is scheduled for the update it will happen automatically. Just remember that the app that you downloaded to the xbox does need to be run to be xbox to get the update.

If it's turned off completely then maybe it would be ok. But, in standby it does automatic updates, game and software patches ect... So personally I would not put a pillow case over my xbox one.

You can disable automatic updates. This is a check box option in the Power & Startup section. Go to Settings, Power & Startup, and unselect the box Automatically download updates and purchases. You can also set it where your console does not turn off
the storage when the Xbox is turned off. I suspect that you have it set to turn off the xbox after 1 hour of activity and then you have it set to turn off the storage when the xbox is turned off and that this is causing your issue.
