Does Xbox make you pay after a free trial expires?

auto renew is always activated on trials, make sure to go to account and subs to disable auto renew if you plan on not extending it.

I tried using the my files explorer free trial to download some skins and mods for minecraft, but as soon as I opened it it said that my free trial had expired

Does canceling the free trial not make you have to pay for it the next time it renews, like does it have to renew for you to have to pay for it?

i saw it on my xbox as well i tried paying for it and it wouldnt let me!

If you have ultimate, it will auto renew. If you only redeemed a 14 day free trial, then it will expire unless you pay for a subscription.
