Does the Xbox one under-perform while using an external surge protector?

I believe Brad mentioning the use of a third party "surge protector" was meant to describe an Xbox One Power Supply. Your console's warranty will
not be voided by use of a surge protector, however; if you use a third party power supply on your Xbox One console, you may risk damaging the console over the use of a Microsoft Xbox One PSU(power supply unit) which is specifically designed
for your Xbox.

The information I provided as the examples are from troubleshooting with customers. Soon as we plugged the console into the wall they were all working correctly. Using a surge protector or ext. cord there is no way to know if they are correctly supplying
enough power all the time.

Plug mine directly into the wall. Don't remember if the 360 was recommended to be plugged into the wall, but do know my girlfriend went though 3 power supplies (Using surge protector), while I never had to replace mine.

Microsoft has actually retracted the information that the One should be not be plugged into a surge protector. Their reasoning was that the console would not be able to pull full power through a 2nd surge protector and would reduce performance, but really
you shouldn't notice any difference either way. You just have to make sure that if you are plugging one into a surge protector that it can handle the load a console would put on it.

Personally, I have mine in a battery backup though. That way if I'm playing and the power goes out, I have time to shut it down properly.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. To answer your questions:

1. Yes a console can under perform plugged into a surge protector or ext. cord. For example this are known issues that have been resolved, controllers keep disconnecting, games not launching correctly, and even console not powering on. Reason for this is there
   is no way to tell if a surge protector or ext. cord is faulty or not putting out enough power unless you have the meter to test this.
2. NO I plug all my consoles directly into the wall. The consoles all have there own surge protector. To use another you can void your warranty if found you used another. One has it on the power cord, Xbox one S, X have them inside the console.
3. Another Note if the surge protector or ext. cord is faulty, this can damage the console as it is not getting the required power to run correctly.
