Does OneGuide channel change need line of sight?

I am having issues with my Xbox One changing the channel of my Xfinity STB. This used to work just fine, and I confirmed that the code is C1982.

The only thing I have changed recently is moving the Xbox and STB into an equipment closet. Neither has LOS to the Kinnect, or the controller anymore.

Is it required for the channel change to work, or do those commands go through the HDMI?

Two OneGuide Issues

1. I have Comcast/Xfnity none of the line ups for my zip code or surrounding zip codes match the actual line up on the cable box, so when OneGuide changes the channel it's the wrong channel. For example Oneguide says FOX is channel 5 but it's actually 7
on the cable box.

2. I have HD service when the OneGuide changes 3 digit channels only the first 2 numbers are accepted and I have gone to the advanced settings and changed the speed.

Any Ideas?

Xbox One guide and Time Warner Cable

Eastern North Carolina Time Warner's old channel line-up still in OneGuide. I restored my box to factory defaults and OneGuide still shows ESPN on channel 1500 when it should be TV Japan. Who's the company that feeds line up info to OneGuide? Maybe they
need a notice that TWC has changed their line up...

You need to have line of sight in order to have the XBOX to control your STB.

There is an IR signal that is sent out by the connect to operate the other devices (STB, AV receiver , TV ETC).

Thanks. Seems I need to find an IR extension cable and run it from the Xbox to the STB in the equipment closet.

Hi thanks for the tip, I tried that and changing the zip code to another area for months. The problem is that the lineup needs to be updated on the Oneguide service. Liberty changed the channels one year ago and I report it and 2 months later receive a message
that the changes were live and everything was fine. But Liberty changed the line up again like 6 months ago and I wait to see if the channels get updated and reset weekly the one guide but is the same problem that we have one year ago. The guide is for the
line up before the new change of channels. Oneguide needs to change on your side the channels.

I'm in Goldsboro (east of Raleigh) and the OneGuide was handling things like a boss until 11 March when TWC changed the line up. Now whenever I want to watch TV Japan, XBone enters the old channel number. OneGuide does not match the new lineup either.
Not a huge pain in the butt since OneGuide is so much better than TWC's guide. But it's useless now since _all_ the channels are incorrect.
