    Title. I recently grabbed a XB Elite Series 2 controller and am blown away by the customization available out of the box. It's a really well-made controller that I've been loving so far while playing on my PC.

    I recently played in a Halo LAN where the Xbox that was used updated the firmware on the controller. Eventually, when I got home, I realized that my Xbox Accessories application could no longer edit the settings on my Elite Series 2 as the firmware was too new. Frustrated, I searched online for answers, finding that the only way to fix this issue is to disable future automatic firmware updates and revert the firmware of the controller manually with an Xbox, you can't with a PC. You could probably estimate just how frustrated that made me, as I don't own a new Xbox console and play on PC exclusively.

    Searching for workarounds or hacks doesn't sit well with me and I'd really rather Microsoft fork out support for their own products rather than rely on users hacking together solutions. Does anyone have any idea of how long the Accessories app will take to support its own firmware?

    There isn't. and HASENT for a long time now. idk what the heck Microsoft is doing

    There might be an update to the Xbox Accessories app on the PC. Check using the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10/11. The app on the PC should then be able to recognize the new firmware of the Elite Controller.

    Unfortunately, that is not the case. I have firmware from the devkit installed on the controller, and the app (and Microsoft's own online articles) states that the version is not supported by the software. Microsoft's only solution is to plug the controller into an Xbox to use it, which I don't own. Thank you for your help, though!

    If you need to update your Xbox controller firmware and don't have access to another controller to do so

    Use the Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10 If you have a Windows 10 computer, you can try updating the controller firmware through the Xbox Accessories app. Connect your Xbox controller to your computer using a USB cable and open the Xbox Accessories app. Under the "Controller" tab, you should see the option to update the controller firmware if an update is available.

    Use a friend's Xbox console If you have access to a friend or family member's Xbox console, you can try connecting your controller to their console and performing the firmware update from there. Once you've completed the update, you can reconnect the controller to your own console.

    If none of the above options are viable, you may consider visiting an authorized Xbox service center. There, trained technicians can help you update the controller firmware using their own equipment.
