Does Indian debit card work to claim free pass?

Do you mean the Xbox game pass? The free trial correct? You can try adding Paypal to your account as your payment method if your debit card isn't working.

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & System> Settings > Account > Payment & billing > Payment options.

Select Add a new payment method.

Choose PayPal, and then follow the instructions.

Or add it online.

Sign in to the Microsoft account you want to update.

Go to Payment & Billing and select Payment options. You can add or edit payment options from here.

Select Add a new payment method.

Under Choose your payment method, scroll down to select PayPal.

Note If PayPal isn't supported for your region, the option to use it won't be displayed.

You may need to speak with your card provider if you are adamant in using your debit card.

Indian credit cards do work in India ..

But debit cards don't

My friends are using their cc , but I am unable to add debit card

Although debit card does work in Windows Store and Windows Phone Store because they use commerce.microsoft.com as their billing system while Xbox Live has a different billing system

I am thinking of buying an Xbox One X but I need to make sure that Indian Debit Cards specially those of SBI work on it’s store or not . Any further help would be appreciated

Typical bank debit cards are VISA cards. VISA also do Credit Cards as well. Perhaps your bank card is just a cash-point card? What Indian bank is your account with?

Does your bank not provide a Debit Card? Debit cards work on Xbox LIVE, but it needs to be a Visa card.
