Does anyone know how to change the gamertag if you don't live in the US?

When I'm trying to purchase a new gamertag, they ask me to add my state/province although I don't live in the US. It even says on my profile that I live in Sweden so that shouldn't be the problem...

Gamertag hasn't changed!

Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help. But I paid to change my gamertag 5 days ago and it still hasn't changed.

Does anyone know why? Or how I can solve the problem.

Old Gamertag availability

Hi everyone.

I have an Xbox Live Gamertag called Daftmarzo. I want to change that Gamertag to something else. I am curious to know how long it will take for the Gamertag Daftmarzo to be available for grabs again. My current gamertag, Marzo1337, I'm planning to change
to Daftmarzo as soon as it becomes available.

Does anyone know? Help would be appreciated.

Your Xbox profile region could possibly be set to US. You can try migrate your account to Sweden.

If the gamertag does not log in for 5 years or the person changes it then it will become available.

No one will free it up for you.

As mentioned,gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you have no way of knowing if it is being used or not.

You will just have to wait for it to become available if it ever does.

Selling gamertags is a strict violation of the ToU/CoC & anyone you sells or buys gamertags risks being banned.

Aha! I think I understand the issue.

The Forum allows you to define a ForumTag which, like your GamerTag, is tied to your Microsoft Account, but ForumTag NEQ GamerTag.
Changing the GamerTag does not change the ForumTag.

However, the FAQ at http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/forum_faq/f/6/t/117951.aspx does not explain how to change your ForumTag. There is no change ability
at http://forums.xbox.com/user/settings.aspx .

Does anyone else know how to change the ForumTag?

Don't know how that is possible but you will have to change the Windows Live ID (email definitely and password if you want to) for one or both of the Gamertags. Here's how:
