In order to recover a Microsoft account, you will need to know the email address associated with it. In this case, kindly perform the following workarounds to locate the email address linked to your old Microsoft account. Here's how:

Go to xbox.com and try signing in with the email address that you think is associated with your Microsoft account.

If you can sign in, the email address and password you entered are valid. The gamertag that’s associated with this email address will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the screen.

If you can’t sign in, check your other email inboxes for messages about your Xbox subscription or Xbox offers. This may help you determine which email address is associated with your Xbox profile.

Note: Think back to when you created your Microsoft account. Were you using a different internet service provider for email at the time?

If you’re part of an Xbox family group, have an organizer (adult account) look up your account info with the Xbox Family Settings app.

Note: This step only works if you’re set as a member of the Xbox family group. Organizers can’t review the account info of other organizers in a group.

Steps for the organizer:

Open the Xbox Family Settings app on their mobile device.
Choose the member whose account info isn’t known.
Select the Info bubble next to the user’s gamertag.
Review the info under Account email for the Microsoft account that’s associated with their Xbox profile.

Does anyone at Microsoft care to add any input into how I might resolve this issue. It cannot be that I've lost all this data. Surely someone at Microsoft knows how to fix this.

Hello RoNinja5, I'm so sorry to say but in order to access your Xbox Live account and other Microsoft services, you need to know the email address and password you used to set up your Microsoft account. Xbox Support can’t provide this information, even if you know your gamertag.

If you've forgotten your account/username/gamertag and if you’ve forgotten which email address see the Lost Account Solution link:

a. Recover using your Alternate phone number or email address:

1. All you need to do is to go to https://account.live.com

2. Click on Sign in

3. Choose sign in options

4. Choose Forgot my username from there you will be ask for alternate email or phone number that you use with that account, if you enter it correctly then you will be able to see the right email for your account.

If none of these methods work you'll have to remember your Microsoft account.

You should have an option when trying to recover that you do not have access to any of these which will do this:

1. ask for an alternate email address.

2. send a code to that email address to verify you have access to it.

3. once you put the code in it will start asking you questions about the account.

4. the account recovery team will look at your answers and if you answer enough of them correctly they will send you an email to the alternate email address with a link to reset your password.

5. if you do not answer enough correctly they will still send you an email letting you know you didnt answer enough of the questions correctly.

6. if you do get the email saying you did not answer enough correctly you can then contact xbox support by going to support.xbox.com/contact-us and have them fill out a forgot password escalation form this will consist of:

1. the alternate email address that you used.

2. an account recovery reference number from the bottom of the email that they sent saying that you did not provide them with enough information.

3. the xbox live device id from the settings on a console your profile has been on previously (this is a requirement) if you do not have access to a console your profile was on previously xbox support will not be able to send the escalation form
up to the escalations team.

4. some more information about the account.

Once this form is filled out and sent to the escalations team they will look at it and if enough of those questions are correct they will then send you out an email with a link to reset your password.
