Does anyone do top speed tune ups?

It's a bit rubbish, It's my first go at a tune.

Gear tuning is something I have down to an art/science in FM. A gear ratio tuning "formula" will never net better results than a simple 10 minutes worth of dynamic tuning based on what the car's doing on a track.

Understand torque equals acceleration and HP equals top speed. Pay most attention to tuning your first and last gear first. Get on the test track oval to do it. Tune first as low as you can without excessive wheel spin. An AWD car will have a much lower
1st gear than a high HP RWD car for example. Your top gear should be at peak HP when you hit that cars drag limited top speed. Tune all the other gears in between as a progressive "stair step". I tend to prefer slightly shortening my gears as I progress through
them. And like one of the other guys said, you don't always have to use all 6 gears. In a really high HP RWD car I've been known to set them up as a 4 speed on occasion. Just depends on the car and the application for which I'm tuning it.

I've always done much more tuning for handling as well. Generally speaking, my "go to" upgrades are racing suspension, racing anti-roll bars, racing brakes, racing differential and racing transmission (I love fine tuning the gear ratios). I determine if
down force parts are needed on a case by case basis, depending on the car and it's pre-tune characteristics. I also tend to go with tire upgrades, either rubber composition or tire width, depending on the car and what I'm trying to accomplish.

Generally speaking, I look at what the car does well when it's stock and I look to enhance what it already does well. It's tough to get a car with poor handling and acceleration but great top speed to perform well on a short track and, by contrast, it's
tough to get a car with good accel, grip and braking but poor top end to do well on a long track.

Hi, Vandit, I don't think its a glitch I turned off Xplay features and times and the top speed is 166mph for console only. It was a Bucket List challenge so no tuning can be done.

There all kinds of what I would call "common sense" tuning tricks. Doing upgrades to the engine that also helps improve handling and braking (incidental to weight reduction) is a common sense upgrade. Another common sense upgrade would be, and I forget what
it's called but, the engine upgrade that increases HP and the engines red line but doesn't do much to increase to torque but this one is used at specific times. A great example would be a muscle car build meant for top speed as these cars tend to have high
torque and lower HP. HP is necessary for top speed and torque facilitates faster acceleration. This upgrade, for a car with disproportionate torque/HP where the car is meant for top speed/long tracks, is a great selection. Yet another common sense upgrade
is to increase the rear tire width a bit on high HP front engine, rear drive speed tunes. For the cost of 4 or 5 PI you can accelerate through the turns a bit better and are a bit better off the line.
