Hi ImmuneLion318, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Adding an email as security information is primarily to verify identity. This will keep the original Microsoft account.

If you have an email or number set as security information, it is an added security for your account in case you forgot your password or if the account is compromised.

I would highly recommend not using an email or a phone number of a different person under the security information because it is for the security of the account owner.

It will not mess with your main Xbox account as long as you will only set it as security information.

I know that you have permission but this is for both your safety and security. I highly recommend not using a different person's email or phone number as security information.

It's a close friend with his permission I added my email as an alternative and now Its doing a security info change and I was only nervous If It would mess with my main Xbox account or his.

Yeah it says

Current security info

Alternate email: xxxxxxxxxxxx

Phone number ending in xx

New security info

Alternate email: xxxxxxxxxxxxx

So I guess that means I did set the new one as an alternate, and just to clarify if it is an alternate, does this affect anything after the 30 days is up? And would the verification email be sent to the alternate or the original?

I managed to find the email listed under security info as an alternate email and delete it, aswell as change my security question and password again just to be safe.
