Do you think Xbox should release a disc drive for series S/X

Over 10 years old if you look at the one in the vcr Xbox One. I'm sure they don't cost more then $50 to make, maybe even cheaper at this point.

The expanded storage card they have out is more then the cost of the series s console it's self. So a disc drive might not be a bad option and a cheaper one. Here's hoping they might.

Blu-ray is around 22 years old now. The first commercial stand-alone Blu-ray player for movie discs was released around April 2003. Even the faster drives designed for consoles (the first BD drive in a console was in the PS3 in November 2006) are not fast enough to play games directly from a disc. So, an external optical drive would not help with regards to needing to buy a Storage Expansion Card.

Thanks for the reply and your reasons. The smart delivery system doesn't really matter to much. When I get a disc, say like Forza horizons 4, I can install it on my old vrc xbox one and it gives the right textures for that system. When I install on my Xbox One X, it does the same thing, by giving the 4k textures. So they have that already worked out and I'm sure it wouldn't be any issue from a series s to a series x.

With the Series X, you can choose if you want disc based games, or go digital. I don't see why the Series S can't have the same option.

The cost of the drive doesn't really factor to much. There are many reasons why you might get one after the fact. Blu-ray drives are pretty old tech at this point. get used to not having physical media, i really think this is the last gen to have it, PC has used digital for a very very long time and it is successful, discs contribute to vast amounts of waste and environmental damage in the long term too.

EV cars are very damaging to the environment due to the materials needed, more damaging than a petrol car running for 90,000 miles.

discs are outdated and should be stopped by now, they are not recyclable and easily damaged.

discs have reached the point of obsolescence and should stop.
